Kaiser Permanente’s mission is to provide high-quality, affordable health care services and to improve the health of our members and the communities we serve. Our work is driven by our conviction that good health is a fundamental right shared by all and by our heritage of prevention and health promotion. We understand that health extends beyond the doctor’s office and the hospital. It begins with healthy environments, like access to healthy and nutritious foods, effective schools, clean air, safe parks and playgrounds. We’re very intentional about improving the health and vitality of Colorado communities and strive to be trusted partners in community health by sharing our resources. A community health needs assessment that we conducted in 2013 provided data about the health needs and resources in the communities we serve. Our collaboration with Mile High Connects (MHC) directly aligns with two of our priority health needs: Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) and Economic Mobility. We share MHC’s philosophy that providing Coloradans with convenient and affordable transit to connect them to where they live, work, learn, play, and pray can contribute to a healthier quality of life. Our engagement with MHC includes a grant to support its operating budget and service on MHC committees. We also seek MHC’s perspective to help inform our work in the community. We’re proud to collaborate with MHC and its network of community partners.
