Public transit can be an important tool for middle and high school students to access opportunity, both in getting themselves to a school that best meets their educational needs or getting to jobs or enrichment activities. While some students have access to discounted bus and light rail passes through their schools, school district officials cite both financial and logistical challenges for students accessing those passes.
Mile High Connects is working with partners including the City of Denver, Denver Public Schools, Donnell-Kay Foundation, Together Colorado and others in effort that promotes including a transit benefit as part of the MyDenver card. MyDenver is an innovative program offered by the City of Denver that provides all students ages 5 – 18 with a single card that allows free access to recreation centers, serves as a library card and enables access to many of the City’s cultural institutions.
